my dog used to steal food off the table when no one was looking, but one day we returned to the house to find that the dog had put herself in the bold corner, after eating my birthday cake. she looked so sorry!! she didn't act like that for long, she probably forgot, but she actually put the remainder of the cake under my pillow.. so yes, i think dogs can feel regret.
